MOH Promulgates National Food Safety Standard on Distilled Spirits and Blended Alcohol (GB 2757-2012)

On 12 September, MOH releases the National Food Safety Standard on Distilled Spirits and Blended Alcohol (GB 2757-2012). The standard will be implemented from 1st February, 2013. As expected, the parameter for methanol is mandated to be less than 2 grams per litre of 100% vol non-grain based alcohol. Meanwhile, the standard requires health warning of "excessive alcohol drinking is harmful for health" to be marked, effective from 1st August, 2013, other warnings are allowed in addition to the required sentence.
